SINOPSIS / SYNOPSIS
Remo Erdosain tiene aires de inventor y mucho resentimiento por todo lo que no ha hecho. Roba un dinero en su trabajo y es descubierto. Ante la amenaza de ir a prisión si no devuelve lo robado en 24 horas, Remo decide acercarse a Alberto, un misterioso Astrólogo que ayuda gente. Tras una entrevista, Alberto ofrece conseguirle a Remo el dinero. A cambio, Remo debe integrarse a su organización. Lo que inicialmente parece ser un rejunte de extraños personajes de la ciudad de a poco se revela como un grupo de convencidos cuyos planes culminan con la toma del país, y del mundo. Remo encuentra en ellos la posibilidad de creer en algo por primera vez en su vida,y emprende un camino sin retorno.
Remo Erdosain has the air of an inventor and harbors deep resentment for all the things he hasn’t done. He steals money from his workplace and gets caught. Faced with the threat of going to prison if he doesn’t return the stolen money within 24 hours, Remo decides to reach out to Alberto, a mysterious Astrologer who helps people. After an interview, Alberto offers to get Remo the money. In exchange, Remo must join his organization. What initially seems like a gathering of strange city characters gradually reveals itself to be a group of true believers whose plans culminate in taking over the country—and the world. Remo finds in them the chance to believe in something for the first time in his life, and he embarks on a path with no return.
BENJAMÍN NAISHTAT
Estudió en la Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires y obtuvo la Beca CROUS del Ministerio de Cultura y Comunicación de Francia para cursar el programa de Arte Contemporáneo en Le Fresnoy. Asimismo, fue beneficiario de la beca Radcliffe/Film Studies Center Fellowship en la Universidad de Harvard.
Su última película, Puan (2023), escrita y dirigida junto a María Alché, se estrenó en la Competencia Oficial del Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián, donde fue galardonada con el premio al Mejor Guion y la Concha de Plata a la Mejor Actor; y también recibió una nominación a Mejor Película Iberoamericana en los Premios Goya.
Dirigió los largometrajes, Rojo (2018), reconocido en San Sebastián con los premios a Mejor Dirección, Mejor Dirección de Fotografía y Mejor Actor; El Movimiento (2015), producido con el apoyo del Festival de Jeonju, estrenado en Locarno y premiado en Mar del Plata; y su ópera prima, Historia del Miedo (2014), presentada en la Competencia Oficial de la Berlinale. Su cortometraje El Juego (2010) fue seleccionado para la Competencia Cinéfondation del Festival de Cannes.
Su obra ha sido distribuida en más de treinta países y adquirida por múltiples plataformas VOD.
Benjamín ha dirigido las series El Jardín de Bronce (HBO) y El Tiempo de las Moscas (Netflix). Como guionista adaptó al cine el cuento La Virgen de la Tosquera de Mariana Enríquez. Actualmente desarrolla su próximo proyecto cinematográfico, Los Siete Locos, basado en la novela homónima de Roberto Arlt.
He studied at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires and was awarded the CROUS scholarship from the French Ministry of Culture and Communication to attend the Contemporary Art program at Le Fresnoy. He also received the Radcliffe/Film Studies Center Fellowship at Harvard University.
His latest film, Puan (2023), written and directed alongside María Alché, premiered in the Official Competition at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay and the Silver Shell for Best Leading Performance. It was also nominated for Best Ibero-American Film at the Goya Awards.
He directed the feature films Rojo (2018), which won awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Actor at San Sebastián; El Movimiento (2015), produced with the support of the Jeonju Film Festival, premiered in Locarno and won Best Argentine Film at the Mar del Plata Film Festival; and his debut feature Historia del Miedo (2014), which premiered in the Official Competition at the Berlinale. His short film El Juego (2010) was selected for the Cinéfondation Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
His work has been distributed in over thirty countries and acquired by various VOD platforms.
