SINOPSIS / SYNOPSIS

Marcelo ha dedicado su vida a la enseñanza de filosofía en la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Cuando el Profesor Caselli, su mentor, muere inesperadamente, Marcelo asume que heredará la posición de titular de Cátedra que ha quedado vacante.
Lo que no imagina es que Rafael Sujarchuk, un carismático y seductor colega, regresará de su pedestal en las universidades europeas para disputar esa misma Cátedra.
Los torpes esfuerzos de Marcelo por demostrar que es el mejor candidato desencadenarán un duelo filosófico, mientras su vida y el país entran en un espiral de caos.

Marcelo has devoted his life to teaching philosophy at the Public University of Buenos Aires.
When his mentor Professor Caselli dies unexpectedly, Marcelo hopes to become the new head of Department.
However, his plans turn upside down with the unexpected arrival of Rafael Sujarchuk. Charismatic and seductive, Rafael returns from his pedestal in European universities to claim the vacant position for himself.
Marcelo’s clumsy efforts to prove he is the right candidate will trigger a philosophical duel, while his life -and the country- enter a spiral of chaos.

BENJAMÍN NAISHTAT

Benjamín Naishtat estudió cine en la Universidad del Cine, en Buenos Aires. Escribió y dirigió los largometrajes: Rojo (2018), seleccionado en la Competencia Oficial del Festival de Cine de San Sebastián, ganador de la Concha de Plata a la Mejor Dirección, Mejor Dirección de Fotografía y Mejor Actor para Darío Grandinetti; El movimiento (2015), con el apoyo del Festival de Cine de Jeonju, el cual tuvo su premiere en el Festival de Cine de Locarno y ganó el premio a Mejor Película Argentina en el Festival de Mar del Plata y el Premio del Jurado en el Festival de Cine de Valdivia; y también, Historia del Miedo (2014), presentado en la Competencia Oficial de la Berlinale. Recientemente adaptó por encargo el cuento La Virgen de la Tosquera, de Mariana Enríquez, y prepara asimismo una adaptación de Los Siete Locos, de Roberto Arlt.

Benjamín Naishtat studied film at the Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires. He wrote and directed the feature films: Rojo (2018), selected in the Official Competition of the San Sebastián Film Festival, winner of the Silver Shell for Best Director, Best Director of Photography and Best Actor for Darío Grandinetti; El movimiento (2015), with the support of the Jeonju Film Festival, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and won the Best Argentine Film award at the Mar del Plata Festival and the Jury Award at the Valdivia Film Festival; and also, Historia del Miedo (2014), presented in the Official Competition of the Berlinale. He recently commissioned the adaptation of the story La Virgen de la Tosquera, by Mariana Enríquez, and is also preparing an adaptation of Los Siete Locos, by Roberto Arlt.
